Not for me I persevered with this one after other reviewers said that it wasn't a dual time period novel. Still didn't make any difference to me. I have come to the conclusion that I just don't like B Erskine's style of writing. I cannot immerse myself in her books and lose myself like I can many other authors. child of the pheonix Absolutely fab! One of Barbara Erskine's best novels. Wonderful story full of history, supernatural, fiction with elements of truth all based round a truly amazing heroine. Very highly recommended.
This was the first book I read from this author and I have since worked my way through all her other published work.
Can't wait for her new book out later this year!
Bext book ever!!!! I love this book, I have never ever read a book more than once, I can watch movies again and again, but this is the only book I have ever read again and could read again and again. I love the historic element and the story intertwining.. love it, love it.
Awesome piece of Fiction! And fiction it is, based upon historical characters and NOT historical fiction. The main character, Elyne, is (according to the author's notes at the end) a composite of two characters, one of them being Ellen, the daughter of Llewellyn the Great and Joanna. I admit to being a bit put off at the first part of the book at the characterizations of some of the Welsh court, particularly Joanna.
