It's OK but only OK... This is the first time I've read a Cathy Kelly book, and judging by the comments of other reviewers, it's not one of her best. It's perfectly well written, but I couldn't empathise with any of the characters, and because of that I didn't really care what happened. There was nothing to keep the reader hooked, no build up of tension, and some of the descriptions of people were quite contradictory so you can't get a clear picture of what's going on in your mind's eye. Not worth the money I have to say, although is overall i good attempt, its just not enough for me. I skipped a lot of pages and just went to the end because was too boring. Didn't seem realistic or funny and just made me feel sad. She got 2 stars for effort as all the Lily pages were good, but that is only 33% of the book. Good for extreme boredom, but not highly recommded.
Not one of her best I love Cathy Kelly but this had a weak storyline and was very dull and boring. Definitely her worst book to date. I read a lot on the train to work but struggled to get through this and kept losing my concentration. It was not a page-turner like a lot of her other books. very disappointed!
Fantastic Chic-lit! This is my first Cathy Kelly novel and I can't wait to buy another. I could not wait to read it every day and went to bed early just so I could read my book in peace. I sat reading in bed 'til 1am as I was on the last 3 chapters and had to know what happened. I thought the characters were described beautifully as I could visualise them perfectly. The ending was done brilliantly as I have never read a novel where the death was set so beautifully giving the detail of what the grandmothers sees in heaven.... more info
