Below par for Deaver An alleged cult leader and murderer (Daniel Pell) escapes from jail after being interviewed by an agent (Kathyrn Dance) in respect of a new unsolved crime. Kathyrn has special skills in kinesics or reading body language. The book is reasonably well-written, has some good insights and displays some of Deaver's usual research skills, although the kinesics angle isn't as influential as I had expected it to be. But this is a pretty drawn-out crime novel with the first 400 pages or so dealing almost... more info
Cult Fiction First I must complement G.J.Oxley and Sam Anders for their reviews of this novel, I read both and wondered what I can do to add anything of real use to anybody, but I'll have a go... Fairly Good Thriller In The Sleeping Doll, a convicted killer and leader of a cult, Daniel Pell has escaped prison. It is up to the novel's main protagonist, Kathryn Dance, an agent with the California Bureauof Investagation, to track him down. Kathryn is an expert in kinesics - an ability to read body lanuage and behaviour. I found this book quite a fairly enjoyable read. The cast of characters is quite solid, with the manipulative Daniel Pell, making an interesting, formidable and creepy villian. The character of Kathryn... more info
