Brilliant! This book is amazing. I read it whilst I was pregnant as I'd had very little experience looking after babies, and was worried I wouldn't know what to do! It covers EVERYTHING and is very easy to read. When my baby was born I found it invaluable to have around and kept dipping in and out at the relevant chapters. The method is very loving and gentle for your baby, and helps your baby to gain confidence and independence. This book has been a good "hand on the shoulder", I hope I will be able to use all the advices and I feel more confident regarding breastfeed, now. It should be recommended in antenatal classes, is full with useful tips.
Forget Gina Ford... This is a great book for new mums - very positive, reassuring and helpful, but also compulsive reading! Tracy Hogg's compassionate approach to crying babies and their concerned mums is a breath of fresh air after all the rhetoric of controlled crying. I didn't believe it was right to leave my baby to cry - even for a short time - and this book gave me the confidence to parent the way I wanted to without feeling neurotic and, importantly, whilst knowing I was in fact creating a bond of trust.
Ideal for first time and repeat parents I have read and re-read this book many times - for both my first and second child. It encourages you to see your baby as an individual from the first day, to look and understand how he or she is trying to communicate with you. As you get into practise, following the down-to-earth advice, your baby becomes clearer.
