A Good Book But Not On A Par With This Author's Other Books! Having read all six of Richard Montanari's books I am convinced that he is incapable of writing a bad book. That being said, however, Merciless does not measure up to the other two books in the series featuring Homicide Detectives Byrne and Balzano. While Montanari's writing style and characters will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next, I found that the plot wasn't as engrossing, and the twists and turns weren't as surprising, as I've come to expect from a Montanari thriller -- and... more info
Merciless - Outrageous I have to agree that I also feel deceived. My sister gave me this book as a Christmas present after checking with me first to see if I'd read it.
What a complete waste of money for her and a disappointment for me when I opened it to start reading and found I'd read it before and it was called Broken Angels - how can the author get away with this? He must be laughing all the way to the bank!!
Shame on Amazon to advertise without mentioning it's the same book as Broken Angels! For all prospective buyers who haven't read Broken Angels - get this now as it's an excellent read from start to finish, Montanari is a brilliant writer. Don't fall for the 'buy both' thing, Merciless is the same book as Broken Angels. How can they advertise to buy both???
Excellent but same book as Broken Angels retitled for American market so don't buy if you already read that! Excellent, fast paced thriller. I have read all of Richard Montanari's last three novels and this one does not disappoint. Had to write this quick review to redress the balance because the last reviewer put only 1 star but he meant he was disappointed that Amazon didn't make it clear this is the American version of Broken Angels and his gripe was with them rather than Richard Montanari. Whichever one you read you'll be eager to devour the next Richard Montanari book-couldn't put it down.
