Believe it or not. This is a book intended to be a practical guide on Sumerian magical practices based on a Greek transcript from an original.
It has been CALLED The Necronomicon, as far as I can tell, more as a reference to the fictional work described by H P Lovecraft, which shares a lot in common with regard to it's Sumerian origins.
I don't think the author claims it IS the actual real version of that work, but uses the name as it's appropriate in this context.
Anyway, it's a great read, and from what... more info
Ripping yarns This book was not written by H.P. Lovercarft and nor is it some ancient tale of ghoulishness. The original Necronomicaon was a fictional book described by H.P. Lovecraft in his short story The Hound, and later in The Nameless City. Other authors latterly mentioned it with Lovecraft's approval. There have also been several hoaxes over the years, including this very book by 'Simon' in the 70's. Although this version by Simon, and its subsequent sequels, has little in common with Lovecrafts original... more info
It's not real Sorry to disapoint, but this was written by H.P. Lovecraft. It was to solidified the world he created. It is fiction and nothing more. It would be cool if it was real, but if it was don't you think by now the world would be overrun by "The Old Ones"? I've read enough of Lovecraft books and they even say he wrote it. So sorry to burst any bubbles, but I was glad to find out it was fiction before I made myself look foolish and claim it was fact.
Clarification The historical authenticity of the book is irrelevant. It is a magickal paradigm and has been used by many to acheive tangible results. It is no more or less 'real' than if it truly originated from an ancient ms - nothing in magick is objectively real in the sense which matter is in any case. Just because something is ancient does not mean it is 'true' - its how you use it that produces an effect.
