Too little content I finished reading this book in a little over an hour. There's very little of substance here. If you're a decent runner to start with it has schedules and minimal dietary information, but few alternatives to the food suggested. If you're a beginner, try something else.
Fantastic book! I bought this book when I started training for my first marathon, London. Couldn't put the book down, it became my bible. Covers everything you need to know. Managed to complete the marathon in 3.56.16, and I certainly have this book to thank in part! Very easy to read and understand, with good, practical advice. Many thanks, Dave Kuehls!!
It really works I read this book as a complete novice to marathon running. The longest distance I ran was 5 miles max. This book has all the info you need, to do what the title of the book says. Follow Dave Kuehls advice and it really works. Four months after picking up this slim volume I completed the New York marathon in 3hrs 56.19.
Informative and necessary for the novice. Fun reading and full of beneficial tips, this book enabled me to complete my first marathon (Pittsburgh, 5/2/99). Has also served as my inspiration to run a second marathon. A few mistakes in pace calculations did not detract.
