Good history of documentary photography There are some very good images in the book and the quality of reproduction is fairly good. But overall the photographs vary widely in their quality with some struggling to even be classified as poor snapshots. In some ways the photos selected seem more those that a friend would select from knowing which are the photographers personal favourites - a scrapbook prepared for internal consumption by the Magnum family rather than a book to showcase their best work to the world.
Magnum Opus A beautifully crafted work, presenting key works from the Magnum members in a simple, classic style. The variety of the subjects and the quality of their representation allows the reader/viewer to immerse themselves into a variety of situations and draw their own conclusions and feelings.
Highly recommended.
Excellent introduction to the most respected agency in photojournalism An introduction to the inspirational world of the Magnum Photographic Agency - a collection of images from the some of the world's most talented photojournalists throughout history. Superb quality printing coupled with informative text. The only down side is that it will make your own photography look rubbish by comparison!
I just adore this book I'll keep this simple. Basically this is one of my absolute favourite books. The quality of the book itself is fantastic, the images inside the book are top notch and its quite hefty so it will impress friends and family when they visit your house lol. But seriously its a fantastic book that will not dissapoint one bit. But be warned, as with this type of photography there is a little nudity. Tastefully done ofcourse Now wheres my application form to join the agency....
