Da Vinchi code but good I havent read DaVinchi Code, but after film it feels the same however i do like the tension and even though im only about 100 pages in it keeps me reading on, The narrative structure is the best bit, going between the present and 20 years ago adds to the mystery. but some points are a struggle to read, and the ammount of character description is dissapionting but in its own right is ok - just not brilliant 6/10
good for insomiacs I am an avid reader but this is undoubtedly HARD HARD WORK. It reads like a geography lesson for New York (I think the author had swallowed the New York A-Z) and at 536 pages is about 268 pages too long. The only good thing about it is that it did help me get to sleep.
Hidden truths... A great book, i cant understand the 1 and 2 star ratings, obviously the reviewers are very 'asleep' and failed to spot the thread of human awakening which the plot carefully brings into play. Even worse than the daVinci Code............ I managed about a third of the book until I got tired of all the mystical twaddle and frankly boring plot.
Christopher Fowler wrote a book called 'Disturbia' which had a similar plot, but he did it with panache, humour and skill.
'The Malice Box', on the other hand, is lumpen, boring and totally devoid of charm.
Save your money - almost anything is better than this - and why can't we give zero stars to books which have no merit at all?
