Excellent book for a C++ programmer As a seasoned C++ programmer going back to MS VC++ 1.5 and more recently VC++ 2005, I've had some difficulty picking up .Net and C#.
I've toyed with VB in the past, but just could not get into it, possible from a mistaken belief that C "had to be the answer".
I also tried to learn C# via online tutorials and other books but just could not get it.
At last, this is the book that has explained to me what .Net can do for me and, more importantly, explained C# to me. The book begins by... more info
A good starting point This book has been great at getting me started on c# however the last chapters are ultimatly pointless and i would recomend getting book on the specific subjects for example the chapters on ASP.NET. However this is by no means a bad thing it does give a good over view of what the language can do. This is the book for OO with .NET 2.0 This is an excellent book and I highly recommend it, its is fairly concise and has is fantastic introduction into proper development into C# 2005. The book takes you through developing with Visual Studio 2005 using OO. If you want to become a proper develper with OO this is a fairly good book for it. The only down side is the the database examples are poor and are open to SQL injection attacks (not good).
A very good introduction to C# I bought this book hoping it would do what it said on the cover and I was not disappointed.
This book is a very good introduction to C# that I feel I will be refering to time and time again.
There are plenty of exercises throughout the book and they really do (with just one or two exceptions) help to support your learning of C# and the topic under discussion.
John Sharp has a very enjoyable reading style that makes it a joy to learn a new language.
It's a good book to learn from... more info
