Elixir of Death - Bored to Death This book was very disappointing after "Fear In The Forest" which I enjoyed.
An unlikely plot laboriously told with constant repetition. The hook-nosed hero of the crusades plods fruitlessly around the country, spending more time musing about his numerous mistresses than solving the crimes. He can't get on with his wife and doesn't understand why - a little hint Crowner John. Maybe the fact that you have three mistresses has something to do with it.

From Across "The Pond" I have to concur with J. Chippinadale regarding the quality of Bernard Knight's writing. As far as the Crowner John Mystery Series, I believe that I have all of the series at present as well as a few others. While I enjoy my academic readings, one must have their murder mystery to enjoy too and these are so well written and historically detailed you just can't wait until the next in the series is released.
