Mixed blessings This version of the bible misses out much of the controversial content, providing a mild version that misrepresents God as a gentle patriarch. Despite attempts to make it into a lovable children's book, this is essentially a religious alcopop.
A lovely book I have used this Bible for many years as a teacher of Religious studies to 7-11 year olds. It is beautifully written and faithful to the text of the 'real' Bible. Although I am supposed to be 'neutral' in my teaching, I have found that a number of pupils have been 'converted' by the text! The illustrations are a delight and complement the text so well. Small wonder it has sold so many copies and remained the market leader for so long.
Very easy to read and understand This book was given to my daughter as a christening present, I read it to her while trying to get to her to sleep, but I found myself wanting to read on even though she had fallen asleep. A very well thought out publication.
