As featured in the first year set texts reading list in "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", "Fantastic Beasts and where to find them" is an extensive introduction to the magical beasts that exist in the magical, non-Muggle world. Some of the animals featured in the A-Z you will have already met in the existing Harry Potter books: for example Hippogriff, Flobberworm, Kappa - others you certainly won't. Read on to find out exactly what a Chizpurfle is, why there are so few Erumpents, or why one should always beware of the sinister Lethifold. As Albus Dumbledore says in his introduction, this set text book by Newt Scamander has given the perfect grounding to many a Hogwarts student. It will be helpful to all Muggles out there too. On reading the book you will also find that Harry, Ron and (in one instance) Hermione - couldn't resist grafittiing the book, and adding their own personal hand-written opinions. Did you know that : there are 700 ways of committing a foul in Quidditch? The game first began to evolve on Queerditch Marsh? What Bumphing is? That Puddlemere United is oldest team in the Britain and Ireland league(founded 1163)?All this information and much more could be yours once you have read this book. This is all you could ever need to know about the history, the rules - and the breaking of the rules - of the noble wizarding sport of Quidditch.

JK Rowling produces another winner My sister had these books so i thought i'd read them. I really enjoyed them (especially harry's book with all the comments!) as they look at the history and beings of magical creatures and quidditch and liked the witty humour in them, which makes them perfect for both children and adults. I ended up buying the book pack myself and in this pack, a library card sticker comes with it, which is great to see who has borrowed these books from the library. These are starting to become hard to get so grab a bargain... more info
Wicked fun! Who hasnt wanted to know what Harry's school books contains? I sure have, and when given the amazing chance to read them, you just do not turn it down. Written by JKR herself, these books are packed with inside information to the world of Harry Magic, and contains more than a few clues to the septology as a whole. And lets not forget... its for a good cause!!!
Harry Potter with light relief. This is an enjoyable book, before giving it to my nephew, I had to read it first (to make sure it was suitable - of course!!!) and it was good fun. And it is raising money for an excellent charity. so what are you waiting for, go and buy it!!!
Compulsory for anyone serious about their O.W.L exams! It has to be said, JK Rowling has really thought out the Harry Potter universe well, and these books only support that claim. Simply put, "Quidditch through the ages" gives you everything you could ever wish to know about the magical sport, and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them" is a great fountain of information about creatures in the main books.
Of course, it would be very easy for these books to become something serious, intense and sleep inducing like some of the Lord of the rings publications... more info
