Depends what you're after Now without getting angry like some other reviewers I'll state this: This is not a serious camping guide! It won't give you highly detailed advice on what equipment to buy and how to use it! And relax....... The book doesn't really claim to be a definitive guide. It's more of a book describing how the authors like to go camping. Yes, they are a touch "hippyish", but they are good fun with it. Great book Put together with an obvious love for camping. A guide on how to stay in the great outdoors in style and with pleasure rather than being involved in an endurance trip.
Happy Campers! I think some of the lower rating reviews for this book to miss the point a bit. It's not designed to instruct you how to undertake wilderness camping with a pack on your back - this is more about boutique camping with your friends and family. I've found it a lovely book; gorgeous ideas and a pleasure to browse through too. Makes me happy just reading it - I will get out there and be a Happy Camper!
Disspointing Just a word of caution for those convinced by all the enthusiastic reviews here (like I was). This book makes a nice read and would be a good addition to the coffee table, but can hardly be useful for any camping trip which lasts longer than a weekend.
