Magical... I think this CD is great and I challenge anyone not to feel upbeat and happy after listening to 'Boum'. I'd recommend it for a Sunday afternoon or when you're out having a picnic...it just takes you to a different place.
I absolutely agree with a previous reviewee that you could just close your eyes and be transported away to a cafe in rural France.
Beautiful...
An evocative and atmospheric piece of old France These are old songs and to answer a previous report, they are of course sometimes scratchy - what do you expect?
They are tremendously evocative and if you close your eyes you can imagine you are back in an early French cafe drinking in the atmosphere and smell of gauloises.
If they had been digitally re-mastered this would all have been lost.
Thoroughly recommended for aficionados of a France that has all but disappeared.
Don't but you'll be disappointed! The audio quality of this CD is frankly appalling and detracts enormously from what could be an interesting collection. Evocative? Maybe. Well produced? No, not even close! No effort has been made to ensure that the songs are portrayed in their best possible light and smacks of a cynical attempt to cash in whilst producing something as cheaply as possible.
Great Music What a stunning display of talent, this really cheered me up on those dark, cold damp evenings. Reminded me of when i visted the many backstreet bars in Gay Paris. I was especially impressed by the soothing ballads in this cd. It relaxes and both stimulates. A real charmer.
