Thought provoking Christmas CD Imagine snow on the ground, logs on the fire burning, christmas trees lit up and the cold breath of carol singers singing in the night. The CD is very evokative of Christmas past. Made me reminisant of my childhood (not that long ago). Best ever CD available for Christmas. The Choir (Guildford Cathedral) is amazing. Brings a tear every time i listen. The music from the BBC programme Box of Delights used track 3 for its theme tune. This CD is hard to get hold of. HIGHLY recomended.
Orchestral Music for Christmas Highly recommended ! Hely-Hutchinson's work, achieve the perfect piece of music to capture the Christmas feel. Vaughan Williams's Fantasia on Christmas Carols is a must. And the quality sound is extremely good. Nice record for the good listeners. Buy this before it disappears.
The perfect Christmas CD In many years this has not been surpassed as the best Christmas CD I own. The Carol Symphony is a gem of a piece that I can't believe has not been recorded by other orchestras - perhaps the definitive edition really has been produced! As well as this, the Vaughan Williams Fantasia on Christmas Carols, though recorded by many other choirs, has never been done as well as this recording by Guildford Cathedral Choir. This is a wonderful recording. It should be better known! I have owned this recording for many years. I also own nearly 100 other recordings of Christmas music and I rate this one near the top. I especially love the Hely-Hutchinson Carol Symphony. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only recording available of that work. I highly recommend buying this before it disappears!
