addictive stuff I heard them for the first time live at Guildford and absorbed I Know That Lovin' into the blood, so much so that I had to find and own that song within a week. The rest of the album is just as good, especially Looking For A Way Out. If you like dark, soulful music you can wallow in, then this is one for you.

smoother than ever This is the Tindersticks sounding smoother than ever, and managing to sound better than ever at the same time. 'Can We Start Again' is probably their best single yet, 'If She's Torn' is classic, longing, mournful Tindersticks with a beautiful chorus. 'I Know That Loving' and 'CF GF' are more soulful sounding than you would think possible, and sound just fantastically smooth. The rest are all Tindersticks at their best, with the exception of 'If You're Looking For A Way Out' (a cover of an Odessey song)... more info
How can you define why this composition is so divine? I discovered Tindersticks in 1993 or 1994 while browsing for CDs in a shop in distant New Zealand. Something intangible was driving into my skull, as Stuart Staple's dreary, mumbled baritone permeated the shop. Finally I gave up perusing the dusty shelves and bought what the record shop people were playing. Now I have all the mainstream Tindersticks CDs and some others that drifted down on some flotsam to this distant land.
