Beware Live tracks ! As per most of the other reviews of this CD it's a good compilation, for a ridiculously cheap price, however i really only bought this CD for "Solitary Man" and "Girl, you'll be a woman soon". Sadly both tracks are taken from the Live album "Hot August Night", though this is not indicated by the usual "(Live)" on the track listing. So be warned, if you want studio versions of these or "Kentucky woman" which is taken from the album "Gold-Live" look elsewhere.
Excellent music, exceptional value Having recently rediscovered Neil Diamond through his 12 Songs and Home Before Dark albums, I decided I wanted to replace a similar 'best of' album I bought years ago on vinyl. I searched all over Amazon, couldn't find anything well recommended so I bought Hot August Night. This was a mistake. The Greek concerts may have been something special but the recording is poor and the collection of songs not really what I was looking for. Not quite the best!!!!!! A few good tracks but then a few absent tracks including 'Beautiful Noise'. Could have been worse but could have been a lot better too.
Diamond still shines! I was a great fan many years ago, had all the tapes, and a few cd's. Then lost touch, his 80's and 90's stuff didn't do much, but recently with his newest and 12 Songs, my interest has been rekindled. Couldn't resist this at the rediculously low price, and it is great, and embarrasingly I know most of the words. brilliant.
