This is a surprising disappointment, considering it is the third film from director Danny Boyle, writer John Hodge and actor Ewan McGregor. This disjointed and strained romantic comedy is not even near the same league as Trainspotting and Shallow Grave. Cameron Diaz is a spoiled heiress and McGregor an aimless janitor brought together by two angels (Holly Hunter and Delroy Lindo) hoping to hang onto their wings. McGregor kidnaps Diaz, the boss's daughter, after being fired from his crummy job. She is not all that averse to being snatched. Most of the laughs are lost to a scattershot story that feels preposterous instead of magical. --Rochelle O'Gorman

• Average predictable fantasy romantic comedy
  With McGregor (Star Wars, Trainspotting) and Diaz (My best friend's wedding, Gangs of New York) I thought that this would be a sure-fire hit, and with only a few memorable scenes, it was far from it.
  McGregor stars as self-contained Rob Lewis who never has the ambition to get what he truly wants; he never puts himself on the line for what he needs. • A Very Silly Film
  Although I enjoyed this film I found it the plot making excursions into the ridiculous which made it difficult to engage my attention. That said, it's good entertainment but it's not one I'd watch again and again.

• Life less ordinary
  hilarious! Firstly it made me laugh throughout. the film is about mc gregor whose replaced at work by a robot!who else would think of a better idea. Then he holds his boss daughter to ransom in a kidnap attempt. however hes useless so the daughter helps him out. giving him tips how to kidnap. mcgregor also lies to so many people and it all backfires and at a concert he has to sing as he brags he has many top chart albums. much better than trainspotting(although a slightly different genre!)its written by the... more info
