GREAT FILM - POOR GERMAN DVD W/O ENGLISH AUDIO I don't know why more and more German DVDs are popping up here. The contents reads "Audio: English and Italian" but if it's the version as pictured above - which I believe it is: AVOID IT! I own the German DVD and it sucks. There is no English audio! Just a badly synchronized German audio, which makes you think why buy the DVD when it's no better than the VHS?

The sad and the ugly I saw this film by pure accident. It's magnificant. At no point does this film glorify the mob, or their actions. I am not truely a fan of the director, but this should be considered his magnum opus. I found the acting to be superb, I think it's such a shame that Chris Penn doesn't get as much notice as his older brother, for he is very talented. Even if your not a fan of mob movies you should check this out, it worth your time.
Dark,unpleasant and brooding This incredibly twisted family drama is extremely hard going on the viewer.The plot involves three brothers,one of which is killed.The remaining brothers try to work out who the killer might be.What starts out as an inticing mystery evolves into full-blown greek tragedy.The pace is slow but the direction slick.However,those unfamiliar with Ferrara's work are advised to start elsewhere,maybe "The Driller Killer" or "King Of New York".Certainly tough and uncompromising,this is not an unrewarding film.The cast... more info
