Editorial Review:
Theme tune compilations have historically set themselves the difficult task of being based around a particular subject or genre. Not this four-disc set however. It's a simple alphabetical arrangement of the 200 chosen titles. You'll start with The A-Team and finish with The X-Files. In between is a heavy leaning toward American shows. Despite no sectional groupings, you'll find Westerns (Bonanza, The High Chaparral, Wild Wild West), sci-fi (Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, Star Trek), crime drama (Murder She Wrote, NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues) and sitcoms (Cheers, Roseanne, Taxi). UK favourites include The Bill, The Prisoner, Red Dwarf and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. It ought to be pointed out that although re-recordings, these are from the Silva Screen label's (now rather huge) catalogue and therefore of superior quality. You'll be amazed by how many you know just from a few notes. With that in mind, this is the ideal trivia quiz accompaniment!--Paul Tonks

Originals? Stop Fooling Yourselves! Frankly, anyone who buys a CD of music from the City of Prague Philharmonic expecting it to comprise of originals is either short-sighted or panning the orchestra just for the sake of it. It's like criticising your local orchestra for not being the London Phil or the Skywalker Symphony - you can enjoy the music regardless. Are these tracks original? No. Are they very good representations? Absolutely. I've had countless hours of enjoyment from this CD and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to those... more info
NOT ORIGINAL RECORDINGS Thought this was the original recordings of our favourite tv shows but alas... no. Orchestral versions are not the same so give this a miss and find the original recordings.
Not originals but still good. Even though these are not the original television themes, the songs are still done really well. It is kind of refreshing to hear songs you know well done differently. Highly recommended!
Not originals but mostly good quality renditions. Don't be put off by the fact that these are not original recordings. They have been reproduced with no expense spared - full orchestra with good musicians doing solos pieces, many of which are almost identical to the original recordings. I play the saxophone myself so I am quite picky about what recordings I buy - I wouldn't accept one bloke with his casio keyboard trying to recreate these classics. Having said that, it is by no means perfect. Some of the tracks are a bit weak and not convincing at all... more info
