Braun's Multiquick Professional Hand Blender improves on an appliance that's already highly convenient.

With a 600-watt motor, this updated hand blender has increased power for faster and better results. A dial on the top of the handle allows you to select from five different blending speeds, giving you more control over the consistency of your purées. A turbo button on the front of the handle lets you immediately switch up to the highest blending speed.

The hand-blender attachment has a unique blade that offers smoother and more even blending, making it ideal for puréeing fruit shakes, soups, or homemade baby food. In addition, the hand-blender shaft has an innovative anti-splashing design that prevents food from splattering on your kitchen walls during blending. Other included attachments are a mini food processor with an anti-slip bottom for chopping foods such as herbs, onions or meats and a whisk for whipping egg whites, cake batter or cream.

• Every cook should have one....
  Yes it sucks to the bottom of the pan a bit but you lift it a bit and then angle it and it's great, I wouldn't be without it.

  It is designed for men, easy to use, effective and damn easy to clean, say no more!

  Buy it for your man if he cooks or just buy it for yourself I've spent lots of money on expensive kitchenaid and magimix and I always come back to this.

• Not suitable for root vegetables
  I believe the design to be flawed.

  I had a cheap braun that had very strong suction when I put it into the saucepan in order to blend the root vegitable soup. It blended very well. The motor burned out so I bought this much more powerful blender. The cheap one had holes round the skirt of the blender. This meant that the propeller sucked in the vegetables and ground them effectively because the holes were behind the propellor.   Not the cheapest in its class but worth paying a bit extra. Well made and highly efficient, good accessories. Just the job!

• Pity about the plug
  I endorse what everyone else has said, It's a phenomenal piece of kit. How it manages to blend soup and puree potatoes without any spills at all is amazing. But - why have they chosen to fit it with a small electrical plug that is almost impossible to pull out of the wall socket with just one hand? And if your hands are anything other than perfectly dry and grease or fat free, it's almost impossible to remove.
  Still a brilliant machine - it does everything my old cumbersome processer did.
