rubbish design means the switch will break rendering it useless had this for a couple of years, worked great until one day the power switch went all 'limp'
Turned out the switch runs down the kettle to the element and at the base is a very thin connecting bit of plastic...it just broke, and believe me it cannot be fixed ( i know i tried )...absolutely rubbish design, avoid
Reliable and chic I bought this excellent little kettle back in Sept 2004; it's still going strong after 40 months, looks good in the kitchen and does a good job (boiling water in under a minute, at level '2'). To address some other reviewers points: I fill the kettle with only the amount of water I intend to use, hence it never really gets filled above the '2' level (a couple of large cups of tea/coffee). Works for Me I bought this kettle on Amazon about 3 months ago and I love it. Obviously being Braun it looks fantastic, even the cord is neatly stored under the base. It's weight and handle design make it pleasingly ergonomic to hold. It's also functional and boils really quickly. Low-cost, fast and it looks stylish. Top marks.
Will I get 6+ years of life from this one? Aug 2007. My Slate Grey version of this kettle suddenly died last night -The Switch issue that many mention. I have had more than 6 years of life from it, hence my decision to buy this same kettle again as the old one performed brilliantly and was very user friendly. It was well used, frequently with full capacity back-to-back boils.
