Great breadmaker - until it broke Made reasonable bread and I was happy with it until the LCD screen faded out and became unreadable. No spares are available, so the thing is now pretty much useless. I managed to program it "blind" last time, but it isn't worth the bother. What is particularly bad is that this isn't a cheap machine and I think I paid around £90 for it. I thought I was buying top quality. I've heard great things about the Panasonic breadmakers, so I shall replace it with one of those.
One thing I have learned... more info
No spares When the machine breaks down after less than 2 years, no spares are available, and Salton's customer service is shocking.
Avoid at all costs We have had this breadmaker for just over 2 years and guess what? Yes, you guessed the centre spindle stopped working properly and leaks if you put on a 'delayed programme'. R Hobbs are not interested. We were told that they no longer make the model so spares are not available. so much for watching our carbon footprint when whitegoods are only designed to last for a short while. Will NEVER buy R Hobbs again!
Unreliable There motor brokedown after 2 years of use. Initally I was very happy with the machine so I also brought one for my parents. That brokedown, same fault, within a year. Makes good bread but unreliable. You may have buy another one within a few years.
