Generally lasts a year We have just had our 3rd Breville breakmaker break down, we have loved the breads, and it has been in use nearly daily, unfortunately they seem to last no longer than a year, so this time I will be looking for a different make.
Breville BR1 We bought an earlier version of this breadmaker. It really was not that good. Eventually, the stirrer bearing at the bottom of the mixing pan failed (after about 2 years) and, of course the replacement is about half the price of a new machine. I'm told that the current machine uses the same stirrer/mixing bowl so the fault may re-occur on this model. a fantastic machine, but short life. Our third Breville BR6 has just broken down. We liked it so much that we have replaced it twice. The bread has always been perfect (unlike some other models we have tried) and it is very user friendly. However we have not had one that has lasted longer than six months, which is disappointing. This time we are not replacing it but buying a Panasonic instead.
Breville BR6 Breadmaker After using another well known brand of breadmaker I hesitated before switching to a new brand. This was definitely a good choice. Whether using a packet mix or following the recipes given this produces excellent results. The receipes in the instruction leaflet use flour improver which my last machine didn't, although this is not a necessary ingredient it seems to produce a superior loaf and I bought the improver quite cheap at the local health food shop.
