Broke down after 3 months My Powerblender broke down suddenly after just 3 months of light moderate usage. Most frustrating of all: Braun has fitted non-conventional bolts in the device, in order to prevent people without Braun-tools from opening the machine. The consequence of this is two-fold: On one hand, I has not been able to open it to see if it is a simple problem (like a poor electrical connection, or a fuse) or a more serious one. On the other, no-one would fix the blender, rather than an "official" Braun customer... more info
It blends! What more can be said... Good solid jar which fits easily into the safety catches with powerful motor. Very good safety catch mechanism - this will not break as easy as some of the other makes.
The only slight downside is that it leaks a little from the top when you select pulse mode straight away. OK when you work up the power to max. I think all blenders do this mind you.
Much much much beter than my old Philips, hence 5 stars
Longer-term use This blender appears at first to be well-designed and does a good job at blending almost anything. However, after a few months use at best you discover that the drive mechanism spindle that provides the drive from the motor to the blades detaches itself from the black plastic molding in the base unit and the blades stop rotating.
I have had two of these and they both went the same way. This is a clear design weakness fault and I am amazed that Braun are still selling this product. It is complete rubbish.... more info
Fantastic blender From the first time you use this blender, you will be impressed by its quality. So far it's been used mainly for smoothies and soups, and with all the power this machine can provide, nothing has been a problem for it so far. Icecubes are easily dealt with by this machine, a nice large glass jug, the lid fits on snugly, everything is easily cleaned in a dishwasher. This machine certainly comes highly recommended.
