Editorial Review:

Ever wanted to actually be in a video game? No? Well, you will after playing with the EyeToy, the most original and fun video game accessory for years. The EyeToy is a WebCam-type thing that comes with a collection of 12 mini-games called EyeToy: Play. It sits on top of, or beneath, your TV and plugs into the USB port of your PS2. Once it's turned on it projects a live image of your room and whoever is standing around in it onto one of the aforementioned 12 games. But that's not the half of it. Once the chosen player has positioned themselves onscreen and the selected game has begun, what's happening on-screen is controlled by their body movements--the joypad isn't involved at all.

So, for example, in Kung Foo you have to swat away hordes of ninjas with your hands as they come flying at you from the sides of the screen. In UFO Juggler you have to help spaceships take off by spinning them at just the right speed. Dancing game Boogie Down tests your hand-waving rather than foot-shuffling skills. A few of the games are slightly more complicated, such as Rocket Rumble--just like FantaVision, except you must set off fireworks in sequence by touching them and hitting a detonator onscreen.

EyeToy is tedium personified if you're playing on your own, but get just a couple of mates together and it's easily the best party game ever made. --David Jenkins

  • where have I been all this time?
I only heard of the eye toy a week ago and was totally amazed. My 4 year old son could not work both controls of the Wii so my brother brought out the eye toy - he was instantly hooked. Dont be fooled though, it is quite a lot of fun for the adults too, in fact we were on it longer than the kids.
Good family fun at the fraction of the price of a Wii

  • Energetic, interactive fun!
This package is good value for those who do not already own an Eyetoy camera.
In this game, you do not control things using the PS2 control pad, but with your body, which you can see on the screen! You start off navigating through the menu by making your hands touch the on-screen buttons. It is much more preferable to tapping away at buttons all the time.
There are many games to play, which include kung-fu, plate-spinning and window cleaning. Whether it's using your fists to box against your... more info

  • Eye Toy ; Play
Sony's EyeToy is a small digital camera that sits on top of your TV and plugs into your PS2. The motion sensitive camera films you as you stand in front of your TV, putting your image on screen in the middle of the action. Then you use your arms, legs, head, bottom... in fact any part of your body to play the games. EyeToy is an entirely unique party gaming experience for people of all ages. Incorporating a unique USB camera that utilizes motion-tracking technology, gamers instantly become the main... more info

  • Changed my mind
With the eye toy at first i thought it was awful (a bit childish).
But after a while it gets better and now new games are being introduced its getting more handy having one of these.
My eyetoy started gathering dust quite quickly until i realised its much better than it first made out! v.good 8/10
