Some idiot only gave this one star... I got this CD when it first came out, and was immediately drawn in by Tom's voice and the fantastic melody and instrumentation evident throughout the entire album. 10 good songs, 6 of which are very good, and two - This Boy, and The Moon & Me - which are truly outstanding. IMHO this is better than his latest effort (which is still good, but lacking the consistently high standard of Feather & Stone). inspired this album is amazing, i bought it way back in early 2004 and have the older gatefold version. i heard 'this boy' and was blown away by toms musical genius.
There are many comparisons to jeff buckley and it is understandable why, to be there is a bit more of tom mcrae and ed harcourt sounding so if you like any of these artists buy this album.
i cant say that i dont like any of the songs on the album, they all have so much emotion in them. my personal fav on the album is 'girl from the hills'... more info
Striking rise from obscurity more than deserved I first heard Tom performing on Later With Jools Holland a few years ago... it's funny, as part of me of course is ecstatic over his success, but another part of me is selfishly annoyed because he was one of the best kept secrets in British music talent until recently!
