Makes a huge difference. Recently my Mum said that her Sky+ box kept crashing. Sky has replaced numerous boxes and still they crash/fail. They are known to have cheap power supplies, which would suggest they would have no tolerance to power fluctuations. I have never ever had any trouble with my box. However my box gets its power from a Belkin PureAV Home Cinema Surge Protector, which I bought to protect my HDTV (this set up was in my Mum's house before I moved out and I had no problems). FAILed to protect my equipment This item FAILED to protect my equipment during a recent electrical storm. I now have a PC which is a brick. Now I will be trying to find out whether the connected equipment warranty is worth the paper it is written on. I don't fancy having to send my computer off to Holland to have it inspected before they will even decide whether to pay my claim. I think I will be looking for another equipment provider.
amazing value for money from a quality make of anti surge protection Hi, This device has excellent build quality. The darker colour hides its presence in the shadows. With the need for T.V, Freeview, DVD player and legacy video recorder just to have enough plugs is a boon, but to have 8 sockets is great. But to have surge protection and antenna protection is comforting. If you have a transformer for a device, these can physically block the adjacent plug. Fantastic protection It works VERY well. I am most impressed. I've got a Velodyne subwoofer, and it kept blowing the fuse on a low cost sub £15 extrension with surge protection... I wondered, but I noticed after the fuse blown a few times in the speakers power amp, that the Surge light wasn't illuminating anymore. It lasted a month or two before giving up the ghost. However this Belkin is going stong, and has protected against any further issues with the fuses. I'm happy that this has been able to mitigate the surges... more info
