• As good a starting point for Bernstein that you'll get.
  This is a very good compilation indeed. The versions of the compositions are for the most part very well performed and in some cases, exceptional.
  The themes from To Kill A Mockingbird, Ghostbusters, Halellujah Trail & The Man With The Golden Arm are worth the purchase price alone.
  However, if it's the definitive versions of the 'hits' (The Magnificent Seven & The Great Escape) that you want, then you might be advised to look elsewhere. The Magnificent Seven in particular is very weak... more info

• Essential Film Music Collection composer Elmer Bernstein.
  I found this disc somewhat disappointing.The City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, in my opinion,lacked the depth, blend, quality and richness of sound in comparison with many of the original film soundtracks.
