Absence of Men Although men centre greatly in this movie and the effect of their thoughtless behaviour is the core of the story line for all the female characters their absence makes this an outstanding aspect of the film. After you have watched the movie you could almost convience yourself that they were active on screen. However the strong acting and dialogue of the principle women leave no room or need for their presence. This is a girl power movie circa 1939. Nothing changes - essential viewing.
