Editorial Review:
Vin Diesel is game to soften his tough-guy image in The Pacifier, in which he plays hot-shot Navy S.E.A.L. Shane Wolfe, whose latest mission goes awry when the scientist he's sent to rescue is popped off before he can tell Wolfe where he's hidden some Top Secret software something-or-other. Before you can say Kindergarten Cop, Wolfe is assigned guard duty at the scientist's family home, where he's left with some unruly kids when the widow (Faith Ford) takes off to Switzerland to claim her hubby's safety deposit box under the guidance of Wolfe's superior officer. The trouble with this paint-by-numbers fish-out-of-water kiddie comedy is that Diesel himself is a fish out of water in the movie--he's no comic and is far funnier when he's unintentionally spoofing macho heroics in The Chronicles of Riddick. The film limply throws everything it can at you, including the idea of Wolfe directing a community theater production of The Sound of Music, but is just biding its time until the predictable action climax and hugs-all-around denouement. Vin doesn't look embarrassed, but the supporting cast sure does, especially Everybody Loves Raymond's Brad Garrett as a bombastic vice principal and Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham as Garrett's boss and Diesel's sudden love interest.--Steve Wiecking, Amazon.com

ho hum this is a very bad movie.watching this is like cutting yourself all over and crushing a 1000 lemons putting the juice in a bath and then getting in the bath
Cute and charming... A rarity, a charming, funny film that doesn't really try too hard, tugs the heart strings a little, makes you smile and laugh and generally cheer for the good guys. Vin Diesel is an actor that I enjoy watching and that's why I bought this, I watched it over again because it is charming film. It was nice to see him break away from the rebel on the edge type movies for which he is known.
IF YOU NEED A GOOD BABYSITTER CALL VIN DIESEL!! There was nothing else on so I thought I would sit and watch Mr Diesel in this comedy about babysitting 5 children. The only difference with this to all the others this was very funny and it worked really well. Everything about the film was watchable and I have to say Vin Diesel was brillant in this film it was nice to see him in a different role. If you are looking for a good family movie then buy this you won't regret it.
Takes real risks... brings off the whole thing marvellously I liked this movie, but my younger kids adored it. That was the difference. We talked quite a lot about it both immediately after the movie, that we saw at the local multiplex, and some six months afterwards. The film certainly made a deep impression on MY kids, that is for sure. Vin Diesel is actually perfect for the title role, and in fact his very clumsiness that has been observed here, far from being ineptitude, is in fact carrying the whole point. This is far from being a "cute" movie. It deals... more info
