Sublime Magnificant performance from Catalina. She is haunting, childish, clueless, strong, very very plucky, smart, angry, beautiful and ignorant all at the same time. The one thing she is not is resigned to her destiny! This film is about social exploitation, it's about coming of age, it's about the cost of freedom... and it is also put together so movingly and I'd imagine that even viewers who have no idea what extreme fear and extreme danger feels like, might be moved by and caught up in this wonderful movie.... more info
Where people mean nothing and the contents of their stomach mean everything. This film proved to be something of an education for me. Having never been involved in drugs, I've not really thought about the poor saps who bring them into the country (be it here in the UK or over the pond, or anywhere). This film uses documentarial first hand experiences to build a film which humanises the faceless world of the drugs mule. Very real and different movie Maria Full of Grace is a spectacular film showing viewers the dark side of poverty and drugs. I found this movie very explicit showing that these girls would do everything to get out of the lives they have in Colombia and live in exciting America...
