Editorial Review:
And so it begins. It’s hard to pinpoint just when you realise how good Lost actually is. Granted, the opening episode is an astonishingly assured way to start, replete with an almighty plane crash on a seemingly deserted desert island. Yet as those who have followed the hype are well aware, there’s far more on offer here, with carefully woven plotlines introducing a series of characters who are slowly and intriguingly fleshed out throughout the 25 episodes in this set.
At its best, Lost is a delicately layered adventure, laced with some stand-out moments. You’ll find ample instances of them here, as well as umpteen examples of the quality of writing that underpins the show. Far fetched? Yes, occasionally, and you could also argue that it takes a while to recapture the energy of those dramatic opening episodes. But this is still a lavish, compulsive show that benefits heavily from its clearly substantial production budget.
Naturally as there are more episodes made and planned, there are plenty of building blocks being put in place for later on, both through the evolving life on the island and the plethora of flashbacks that back it up. Yet it’s at this point that the quality of Lost really hits home, thanks to lots of short term excitement with plenty still to enjoy as the show progresses. That makes Lost Series One a rewarding purchase, and one that promises even greater things ahead.--Simon Brew

It's a shame you can't buy a life on Amazon Bad acting, dull nonsense of a script, poorly paced and directed.
Anyone giving this pathetic excuse for a tv programme 5 stars must have a 1 star life.
Stop sitting indoors watching hour upon hour of this patronising rubbish and find some friends instead.
Preferably ones who don't like this bunk.
Whoever named this place Dark Territory. Genius. How did I not watch this for the whole 3 years it's been running!? It is the best US TV show I have ever seen! That is a pretty bold statement really when there's shows with CSI, The X Files, Twin Peaks and 24's standards to live up to, but this show is absolutely amazing. Never before has there been a show where there are so many main characters, all of which get enough of the spotlight to really get to know them all and their backgrounds. They are also such good characters where I was switching from... more info
Plot is indeed lost Yes, I've arrived late to the party but figured it's got so many great reviews it can't possibly be bad. I really don't see how this comes anywhere near any of the other top quality US shows. The story line plods along even 1/3 of the way into series one; I'm so glad I didn't buy one than one season. The characterisations are so irritating the best thing that could happen to them is never see humanity again. Why watch this when you have The Wire, West Wing, Sopranos....poor, truly poor.
An excellent TV series Well what can I say appart from this has to be the best TV seies to ever come out of America. The first time I watched this I thought it was a simple survival type programe .... yet things get very interesting and mystical. Strange things start happening on the island leaving the characters and the audience confused as hell. My only gripe about Lost is that its too drawn out and littered with the odd episode that just doesnt interest or help reveal anything about whats happening. However, bear with it... more info
