In this post-WWII epic, British and American forces are fighting a last-ditch battle against a parasitic species known as the Chimera. Resistance: Fall Of Man creates a post-apocalyptic Britain in which you must defend the west from complete obliteration!
In the end it will probably be to the benefit of European gamers that the PS3 was delayed, since it will give Sony the chance to put together a much more impressive line-up of launch games than greeted the console in America and Japan. Resistance was easily the best of the U.S. launch games – a first person shoot ‘em-up from the creators of Ratchet & Clank. The game’s story is based around an alternate version of World War II where instead of Nazis you’re facing off against the insect-like Chimera in a war torn Britain (naturally you’re playing an American though). It’s basically Call Of Duty meets Doom.
The game doesn’t use the tilt sensors of the Sixaxis controller for movement but it does demonstrate the improved build quality of the analogue sticks, which previously made first person shooters difficult on the PS2. The tilt sensors are used in a variety of secondary roles though, such as when you have to shake off a monster or if you get set on fire. Despite the faux WWII setting, most of the game’s weapons are fantastical and, as with Ratchet & Clank, are probably the highlight of the whole game. All have secondary fire modes, from grenade launchers to homing bullets. The armour piercing Auger for example, also doubles as a shield. There are also vehicle based sections, including a particularly fun ride in an almost indestructible tank.
Although the single player game is well above average, the criticism about the sometimes generic art and design are not entirely without foundation. Thankfully this is compensated by an excellent forty person online mode – a huge achievement for a launch game and a very good sign for future online PS3 games. HARRISON DENT

Godlike!!! At the beginning of 2007 Resistance: Fall of Man was released in Europe, and anyone who bought this game soon after the ps3 was released would have realized the true power of the ps3. A lot of people forget that this was one of the first ps3 games released. With forgetting that, people compare it to other games that were released later in the year or the following year. Games such as Call of Duty4: Modern Warfare, Rainbow six Vegas 2, Metal Gear Solid 4 and many others. I agree that Resistance: Fall of... more info
Great Fun I got this game with my PS3 upon purchase, and I admit that I put it to one side and didn't play it for a few months as I am not a fan of FPS. How silly of me, this game is great! The graphics are fantastic and the story is equally as great. I thought that the alternate history of the world was set out perfectly and I could not help thinking that this could have been a possibility if Hitler did not come to power in Germany etc. Am I thinking to hard? Possibly. As for gameplay, I felt that I was in the... more info
Over-rated This game was really naff tbh. Did not enjoy it at all. Oh yeah...also the fact that the hero is the only American in England as well....hmm i wonder why? Oh yes it is because Americans wouldn't buy it unless they are depicted as the heroes...get over it.
Fantastic!! I have always been a fan of fps arcade shooters and here we have one of the best out on ps3. The graphics are very good, gameplay in single player and co-op is good but could be a little better, hence the 4 stars. however this game comes into its own online. now i used to frown upon people who played online...but this game is seriously addictive! this game was meant to be played online...there are loads of different types of games so you won't ever get bored! Personally i recommend the huge maps with loads... more info
