In a nutshell: It may have taken the world by storm with its huge range of genuinely innovative new games but there’s no denying that the Nintendo DS is not exactly the most portable of portable consoles. That’s all changed now with this sleek and sexy update.
The lowdown: When the Nintendo DS was first announced it was dismissed by many as a white elephant – with a gimmicky interface and underpowered graphics. Over 15 million sales later and the story is a little different. The DS Lite is fully compatible with all existing Nintendo DS (and Game Boy Advance) games but it’s smaller, sleeker and lighter – with a new design that perfectly matches the Nintendo Wii console. The most impressive feature is the new backlit screens which offer the sharpest image ever seen on a portable console. The DS Lite is available in three separate colours: White, Black and Pink.
Most exciting feature: The DS Lite now has four brightness settings – the highest is brighter than even the PSP and is clearly visible in any lighting condition. That sound? That'll be Sony executives running to the hills - wearing sunglasses.
Since you ask: The Nintendo DS is the fast selling console ever in Japan. When the DS Lite was released, it sold out instantly, with queues of over 1,000 people a common sight.
The bottom line: The DS gets a face lift to become Nintendo’s best looking portable ever. - Harrison Dent

Great; but what good is it if the hinge is flawed? The DS Lite is fantastic. Slim, with bright screens and a good balance between power and battery life. The speakers aren't as good as the older DS, but it doesn't really matter. But, you could make it a pocket Cray supercomputer for I care; it has one major fault. The hinge will not break unless you open and close the console very frequently; I used to play on mine three times a day and listen to MP3s which meant the hinge would cycle 5-6 times a day. A year later, the right hinge came off. And oh,... more info
Don't leave home without it, don't be home without it. I love this little bundle of joy. Is excellent fun, keeps me entertained and out of trouble. Is easy to take anywhere - excellent for those being sent on courses or away from home through work, or just for something to do in the evening. The range of games available to use with this are increasing with plenty of choice for all, and there's no need to power up, plug in, or go to the study/spare room/computer room if you fancy five minutes on it. Is also very easy to use so no hours of trawling through a... more info
Nintendo DS Lite black I just bought it really for a long plane journey, but I can't put it down, easy to use, small enough to fit in your bag. Solid construction, it comes with a charger, and spare stylus. Very simple to use even for a non-tech and even if your not into games, you will love this, I have the brain training game and the 42 all time classics, which is fantastic. If your unsure, snatch one off one of your kids or grandkids, and have a go !
GREAT VALUE I, like so many other people, bought this mainly for the brain training game. The console itself is very easy to use, has a good battery life, and most important of all, it is portable so you can play it anywhere. The selection of games for the DS is impressive, with some top quality titles on offer, from puzzle games to RPG's and everthing else in between. The great thing is that Nintendo has aimed the DS at all ages, which is why it has been a huge success for nintendo. It may not have the the more... more info
