Plastic not as sturdy as I'd like The ceramic ball and the shape of the shaker makes it incredibly easy to pulverise spices into powder. However, the plastic cracking at both ends - so far it looks like stress fractures appearing within the plastic, and hasn't reached the inner or outer surface, but I think it only has a few more shakes left. It's not been all that heavily used in the couple of years or so I've had it, either. As good as the end result is, I'll be getting a traditional pestle and mortar next as it will stand up to more... more info
