• Got this combo cheap and it did the job perfectly
  My sons multi-format DVD/CD recorder unit in his PC was playing up so I bought a replacement Pioneer one. Touble was the old unit was a parallel ATA [PATA] unit - checked this in the PC system BIOS during startup rather than opening the case. I decided to get a serial ATA DVD/CD drive as the replacement and it should work better on the faster system bus and old style PATA drives are few and far between these days. • It's a cable, it works!
  One thing to note - SATA cables don;t bend very easily; if there is slack, its best to twist the cable than bend it - otherwise it could break. This is especially important in cases with not much space, or external hard drive caddies.
  Also, the power adapter is very short, which is OK because the power leads form the PSU should be plenty long enough anyway, but still worth mentioning.
