Great remake- mediocre Blu-Ray 2006's The Omen is a superior remake that takes the original 1976 movies quality spooky story and beefs it up with better production values and a more efficent and grounding cast. It's a fairly faithful retread but the fact that it manages to improve on most aspects makes it's similiar nature to the original more forgivable than say Gus Van Sant's silly remake of Psycho.
However the Blu-Ray isn't great as the picture and extras department are left really lacking. In comparison to a normal DVD this... more info
RE-MAKE OF A CLASSIC GOTHIC CHILLER... This is a decent re-make of a first class, gothic chiller. It is not, however, as creepy as the 1976 original, which starred Gregory Peck and Lee Remick, as it lacks Jerry Goldsmith's pulse pounding musical score. It also has a younger cast that lacks the gravitas of the original. Still, the film is still worth viewing, if only to see how it fares in comparison to the original, especially as the screenplay used appears to be the original one.
