Creative Couldn't Care Less Beware of Creative customer care. I recently contacted them with a problem with my MP3 player. Basically, although it worked fine and was fully loaded with my whole music and video collection, I couldn't add any further content to it. Customer care took me through a diagnostic process which ended with a instructions to completely reformat the machine, stripping it of its operating system. I e-mailed them to say I was nervous of doing this, but they insisted it was necessary and that if... more info
Rip Off Zen This is now the fourth one of these I have had and all 4 have sooner or later simply frozen on me. You can't even switch the damn thing off but it lapses into screen saver mode so the battery aint ever gonna run down it will just remain "shutting down" indefinately. Never buy this- also the FM radio isn't all it's cracked up to be and I found it incredibly difficult to tune any station I wanted. To end on a positive note though the sound quality was very good- but shop elsewhere.
How to waste time and go bananas - instal a Zen ... not Small, perfectly formed, 4Gb piece of doo-doo. You'd think that Creative would have worked out how to get a Zen to operate with A] their own software B] MS XP [only been around for 5-6 years, innit?] But no. Load the software [Creative Media Explorer] - it recognises the player. So does MS Device Manager. But can files be copied to Media Explorer or the Zen? No And the result of trying? Zen no longer recognised by CME or MS DM which sees it as a generic MTP and sets off on an infinite journey... more info
Should have known better Ever the optimist, I decided to buy this despite all the reviews about the product freezing. What happened? - loaded the software, charged the zen for 6 hours, so far so good, tried loading music - nada, zilch, it had just died, couldn't bring it back to life, PC wouldn't recognise the device, unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to have to buy the same and give it another try as along with that purchase I bought the compatible zen docking station.
