Garbage Transferring 8Mb of small files from Vista SP1 laptop to this piece of junk left me astonished once I saw the the 17.5Kb per second transfer rate! I could write faster by hand! Bin it!
Good Concept/Shame about the Speed The Trancend does well in terms of looks, the sliding USB socket and the utilities provided with the hardware. However, all these advantages are wiped out by the exceptionaly slow write speed. The drive is indeed virtually unusable for large data transfers. Although I havn't suffered with data corruption problems that I have seen reviewed elsewhere,
I cannot recommend this product.
Buy a pen and copy your files out by hand!! It will be quicker. If you've got unlimited time to sit around waiting for files to copy, or you're only ever copying small files, this could be ideal for you. I bought it about six months back, because it's small, has a lot of storage, and most importantly for me, it had a retractable connector. I knew if I bought one with a cap, I'd lose it within a matter of minutes, and the only other model I could find with a retractable connector, the Sandisk, was a lot more expensive! God one, loved it I have had my 8GB transcend USB key for a couple of months now, and have not had any issues with transfer speed. The drive is regularly emptied and refilled, and I've yet to have any problems with data corruption. The reason I give it 4 out of 5 instead of full marks is because there is no lid. It's a slide-out USB connector, and though I've had no problems with it so far, bits and fluff could probably get in there!
