A garbled mess A poor, innocent and sweet girl by the name of Fanny Price is fostered by her wealthy relatives. May not be overly exciting but its enjoyable nevertheless... This adaptation of Mansfield Park may not be perfect but it is romantic, heartfelt and worth a watch. Admitedly, it isn't as romantic or funny as ITV's adaptation of Northanger Abbey but this, to me, is largely to do with the content of the Austen's story. Fanny Price is not the world's most exciting herione but Billy Piper has made her as interesting and spirited as the book will allow. Awful What an amazing book, this adaptation is awful, skimming off all the details that make the book, producing a fast and frustrating watch. Not recommended at all!
Quite good, actually Just watched and decided to check out the reviews, surprised at the general negativity. I'm not generally a fan of Austen or Austen adaptations so I didn't have high hopes but I enjoyed this.
It is, as has been said, hard to reconcile how the characters talk about Fanny with Billie Piper's portrayal but she's an appealing screen presence and there's an excellent chemistry between her and Edmund. I thought the cast in general were good.
