Editorial Review:
The Powershot A560, successor to the Powershot A540, marks the arrival of AiAF face detection and out-of-this-world sensitivity to the famous A-line of Powershot cameras from Canon! Weighing 20 grams less than its predecessor, the A560 has kept the same compact casing but has added some new and improved Canon-exclusive technical functions. The Powershot A560 uses the same DIGIC III image processor as its predecessor for more detailed shots, and it has an AiAF face detection mode, which is able to recognise up to 9 faces in a single photo, highlight all of your friends' and family's faces and correct shadows or reflections. In addition to its 7 megapixel sensor and 2.5? TFT screen, the Powershot A560 has several scene and colour modes, such as sepia, indoors, landscape, night, and underwater. Plus, the ISO 1600 sensitivity ensures excellent pictures even in low lighting conditions. Thanks to its in-built flash you?ll be able to take all kinds of photos without blinding your subjects. You can use the red-eye reduction function to improve the quality of your photos, and even record up to 1 hour of video in resolutions of up to 640 x 640 at 30 fps thanks to its SDHC compatibility. The Powershot A560 digital camera allows you to take high quality photos that are richer and more colourful than ever before!
Easy to use
Commonly used Special Scene modes are positioned on the PowerShot A560's Mode dial, making it easy to take tricky shots indoors, at night or when photographing kids and pets. The one-touch record/review button enables quick and convenient review of your images.
7.1 Megapixels
A 7.1 Megapixel sensor produces sharp high quality photos, enabling large prints and detailed crops.
4x optical zoom
The 4x optical zoom lens lets you get close to the action without sacrificing quality. It combines with digital zoom for 16x magnification.
Cutting edge technology
Canon's DIGIC III image processor delivers high-speed camera performance, superior colour rendition and cleaner images at high ISO speeds. iSAPS technology uses shooting scene information to optimise camera settings before a shot is taken.
9-Point AiAF
9-point AiAF makes sure that you can keep even off-centre subjects in sharp focus.
Face Detection AF/AE/FE
Face Detection AF/AE/FE ensures superb people shots by automatically detecting up to 9 faces in the frame and setting the correct focus, exposure and flash level. Face Detection Technology also enables Red-Eye Correction in playback mode. Fix red-eyes in the camera and make them look natural again.
ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto
PowerShot A560’s high ISO setting enables you to take excellent flash-free photographs in low-light conditions. High ISO Auto prioritises high ISO to enable faster shutter speeds, reducing the risk of blurred images.
2.5" LCD screen
The large bright 2.5" LCD screen is ideal for sharing images with friends and family. The selectable Grid Line Display helps with composition, while Night Display mode aids screen visibility after dark.
Shooting modes and My Colors
Choose from 14 shooting modes to get that perfect shot. 6 Special Scene modes assist with tricky lighting conditions, including Beach, Foliage and Snow. Further enhance your images with My Colors in-camera colour management tools.
High quality movies
Shoot extra long¹ 30fps VGA quality movies with full audio, or record QVGA movies at 60fps and analyse in sharp slow motion.
Direct Printing
Connect to any PictBridge compatible printer and push the Print/Share button for a full colour print within seconds. Connect to a Canon SELPHY CP printer and you can also print ID photos and movie stills.

not the best, but still very good Got this camera for a friend of mine, first cause it is a Canon, and second cause the price was very good, unbeatable.
In comparison to other Canon cameras (e.g. Digital Ixus range, 55), this camera does not really stand in the crowd. However, there are very good points about it.
First of all, the picture quality is fantastic, really impressive. Very sharp contrast, and the color, saturation, is really good.
I was not very impressed with the build itself, it kind of feel like it is all... more info
Far From A Disappointment ! .... Needed A Little Pocket Camera For Everyday Shots, So .... Bought this camera as pocket point and shoot device ... What a little gem .... Ok, so it's silver, it's made of plastic, its lightweight; YES ... it's a budget pocket camera . BUT ...... It Costs less than £100-00 Pounds, and it takes FANTASIC SHOTS !!!! .. So easy to use, with a fool proof auto mode, which anyone can use, to produce excellent results .... But also has a few other features, like manual ISO... more info
A disappointment Perhaps I am being too hard on the 560, but overall I am disappointed. I rave about Canon cameras, recommending them to my friends. I currently have an S5is as my main camera, and am very pleased with it. When my wife's A70 died, after 5 years service, the A560 seemed the perfect replacement: double the pixels, slightly higher zoom and all in a smaller model. Unfortunately I am not overly impressed. The build is not as good as the older A70, and more importantly, the image quality is inferior. Pictures... more info
a560 Bought to replace an old sony cyber shot- good price - too many to choose from really:
pros: price competitive, 4x optical zoom, crisp pictures as expected, nice macro function for taking pictures of small things,
cons: batteries (non rechargeable), a bit clunky looking (not a sexy thing),
Does need larger memory card - so annoying to have to fish around amazon to find on that actually comes from amazon (ie not marketplace), which though more expensive will be delivered together and... more info
