Editorial Review:

DMC-TZ3 is the latest members of the award-winning Lumix TZ family of digital cameras, which is renowned for packaging a remarkable 10x optical zoom in a compact, stylish body. To further add to their appeal, the TZ3 go one step further to feature a 28mm wide-angle Leica DC lens (equivalent to 28-280mm on a 35mm film camera) for wide-angle shooting.

NEW - World Smallest Camera With 10x Optical Zoom and 28mm Wide Angle Leica Lens, 7 Megapixel and 3 Inch LCD Screen

Panasonic's new DMC-TZ2 and DMC-TZ3 are the latest members of the award-winning Lumix TZ family of digital cameras, which is renowned for packaging a remarkable 10x optical zoom in a compact, stylish body.
To further add to their appeal, the TZ2 and TZ3 go one step further to feature a 28mm wide-angle Leica DC lens (equivalent to 28-280mm on a 35mm film camera) for wide-angle shooting.

More detail in a single frame

The 28mm wide-angle lens opens up a plethera of photographic opportunities, allowing photographers to easily capture a large group of people, or expansive architectural structures and landscapes with dynamic width and rich perspective.
The wide-angle lens is particularly helpful in situations where you cannot step back or move away from a subject - ideal for shooting group portraits in a small room for example.

The diminutive size of the 7.2 megapixel DMC-TZ3 belies the wealth of technological features.
Incorporating a powerful 10x optical zoom in such a slim and stylish body is impressive in itself.
Add to this the incorporation of Panasonic's Mega O.I.S that prevents blurring from shaky hands, Intelligent ISO to prevent motion blur, and the high quality, high performance image-processing Venus Engine III to name but a few - and the calibre of these new additions becomes apparent.

The LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens comprises 11 elements in nine groups, including an ED (extra-low dispersion) lens and three aspherical lenses.
This advanced lens unit passes Leica's stringent standards and delivers an exceptional optical performance.

To further add to their appeal, the zoom ratio can be extended up to 15x in 3megapixel resolution mode with minimal deterioration thanks to the Extra Optical Zoom.
By using the central part of the CCD, this powerful zooming function allows you to easily capture and magnify distant subjects.
Furthermore, in combination with the 4x digital zoom, a zoom factor of up to 60x can be achieved (55x for the DMC-TZ2)

  • Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 Digital Camera - Black (7.2MP, 10x Optical Zoom) Antishake, 3.0" LCD
I have had this camera for just over a year I think, prompted to buy it after seeing the pics my Mum had got from her TZ1. Unfortunately it has been nothing but a disappointment! I have just looked back through all of the photos I've taken ( 600+ )and there are only a handful that I am pleased with - anything other than good outdoor light leads to pictures where the colour seems to be greying. The flash often over-illuminates, the zoom - well, 10x zoom is great, except when the photos you take with it are... more info

  • Sorry, but what about the focus and the low-light?
I tried my best with this camera, I REALLY DID! But Im selling it off and buying a new one!!
I bought this camera because I goto a lot of gigs, and dont always want to get under the bands nose to take a photo. So I thought 10x zoom would be pretty good... WRONG! The auto-focus takes forever to adjust, and half the time it still cant focus. Photos as a result are either blurry or noisey to a degree.
Waste of a perfectly good optical zoom...
But the biggest draw back is, unless you are... more info

  • The best compromise ever!
I started out to get a DSLR and then thought I'll never keep this around me for instant pictures. So after then examining about 10 options from Canon, Nikon and Sony etc. there was no real choice. Superb bright large screen. Fantastic wide angle performance, a zoom to die for and settings clearly shown on the screen. For idiots like me, a simple mode and now after a year I've moved on to 'Macro. settings and 'picture' settings etc. etc. Everything seems to have been thought out properly. I've got the 2gb... more info

  • not that great
I bought this camera after reading all the fantastic reviews here, and I have to say that after using it many times, i'm not that impressed. The main problem I find is that it is really light sensitive and on medium days with not much sun, and indoors.. images are bleached out as if my subjects are in direct sunlight. I've played around with the settings, but nothing has changed.
There are definetly some nice features with this camera, but if a basic photo in medium lighting conditions isn't good, then... more info
