That sounds familiar, I wonder where I can buy it on CD?
Once again this is a helpful Classic FM 2CD release, aimed this time at those who hear a piece of TV advert music and like it, but haven't a clue who wrote it. The tracks generally expand on the shorter pieces heard during the advert, and although some are not by the same artist as the TV version, they are by no means inferior and the difference will often be unnoticeable. Whether the version of music is the 'best one' is largely irrelevant, for these are all good performances and recordings... more info
Great music from ads and TV This two disc CD from Classic FM contains forty-two tracks that have been made famous because they were featured either as adverts or as theme music for various TV shows. It is true that these are not, for the most part, the pieces from the various sources, rather the music included on this album are the full pieces of classical music that they have been edited and adapted from (e.g. the CD includes the proper Liberty Bell piece rather than the edited version used by Monty Python). Artists not as heard on TV The title of this album promises much to the lover of classical sounds on the goggle box but, on loading the CD into the player, it soon becomes apparent to the listener that their expectations will not be met. This is not a soundtrack album and should not be viewed as such. The instrumental pieces are competently even well performed but, as soon as the vocal parts commence, one realises one is not actually listening to the performances associated with the programme, advertisement or movie.
