Not really bad but not good. Went down the wrong road and isn't to the same quality of previous instalments Visualy I have no problem with it. Yes it's dated but I don't mind. Engine does seem more optimised and runs a dream on mine (Vista x64 Ulti,PD945,4GB,GF7950gt512mb) and I think they have crammed more special effect into this but even if this was the newest greatest looking game out it still wouldn't get a good review from me. Would be nice...if it worked Having played the first two installments of FEAR, I was quite looking forward to this. Sadly, it just didn't work on PC. I presume there must be a problem with the format of the disk (some sort of copyright protection they've introduced, I presume). The first copy spun endlessly in my drive without any sign of being recognised by the PC. I sent it back and got a replacement, but the same result ! I've played Half Life (all episodes), Doom III, Quake IV, BioShock and many others on this PC, but I couldn't... more info
If you liked the original F.E.A.R. you won't like this. I'm sorry that this does not follow the other reviews in giving this game an amazing review, but from playing the first two titles in this series the Perseus Mandate has taken this game the wrong way. It's obvious that this third title in the series has been made with purely console players in mind, where the other title(s) were slow story building horror/thriller based games, the Persues Mandate is just a fast dull FPS, with some utterly terrible "squad" based action thrown in to keep console players... more info
Same Old Fear This isn't a next generation title. Still uses the old graphics engine as the last two titles and the graphics are very good. This game is more of the same really- that isn't a bad thing though! The game doesn't feel new but is still very enjoyable to play. My only gripe was the weak story line for this one and the ending is terrible. But the gameplay is fun and will keep you hooked until you finish it. I play it on full 1280x1024 with P4 3.6Ghz, 2Gb Ram and X850 XT GFX card.
