Very good for this price I agree with many of the pros and cons detailed by other people. However I think this is a very good machine indeed! Having used TomTom for 4 years I am bored with it (like a Nokia Phone I suppose), I was looking for a change so I decided on a Sony, for £100 it gives you map up to Paris (that's exactly what I wanted, I just need a sat nav that can take me to Calais! Simply awful, worst Sat Nav I have ever used I have the garmin satnav but i recently left it to my brother who was holidaying in Spain. My garmin has European maps. In return he lent me his sony device. I can not stress how awful this device is:
-The interface is complex and unusable, I am a geek who creates websites for a living and I found it next to impossible to use.
-The device is very slow

Good Stuff!! I don't know what all the fuss and low scores are about! It's an excellent piece of equipment, very reliable and with the quality Sony is well known for, you can't go wrong for the price!
BEWARE - Can be dangerous I bought this for my husband's birthday. He's never used one before. We were travelling in Bedfordshire, all of a Sudden it told us we were near the River Thames and needed to turn right - in which case we would have gone into a field. Later on it told us something similar in which case we would have driven into a long hedge.
