  Rightly nominated for an Oscar (it should have won), Marco Beltrami's western score is both period and contemporary - he uses guitar heavily, but avoids pastiche by judicious use of electronics to augment his orchestral score and by employing his own minimalist aesthetic. Heavily percussive and with simple haunting harmonies, it is like a dream marriage of Philip Glass and Ennio Morricone (one of the young Beltrami's mentors) and again underlines Beltrami's position at the forefront of contemporary film... more info
