Editorial Review:
Based on the best-selling novel from Cecelia Ahern, P.S. I Love You is far more than the standard chick flick that it may first appear to be. Relocating the novel from Ireland to America, multiple Oscar-winner Hilary Swank stars as the young woman who has recently lost her husband. And yet amidst her grief, she discovers a series of letters that he's written to help. These letters give her certain things she has to do, to help her move on with her life.
It's not a completely clean adaptation of the book, and yet P.S. I Love You has more than enough in its tank to qualify as a good, quality bona fide weepy. Swank in particular is a terrific actress, and delivers another worthy performance here. Credit too to Gerard Butler (Phantom Of The Opera, 300) for his work as her late husband.
The film does have a few problems. It meanders a little, and its running time could use a little pruning. Yet nonetheless P.S. I Love You is a well made, engaging drama, and likely to be responsible for a fair bit of blubbing among its target audience by the time the credits roll. Worth a look. --Jon Foster

Brilliant! I saw this movie for the first time tonight. Having not read the book I didn't know entirely what to expect. I laughed and I cried. This movie in my opinion is one of the best chick flicks out there. I totally loved it. The only thing that didn't work for me was Lisa Kudrow (from the series friends). I just felt that I didn't feel her part in the movie. She is the only criticism I have of it. But that is just my opinion.
Terrible Film Firstly the accents...so terrible that they take way too long to get used to. Secondly the storyline... I understand that it could be seen as romantic and all but to be it is simply creepy I know I am not part of the target audience but i had to give my opinion... it is that bad. The only redeeming factor is Lisa Kudrow (Phoebie from Friends) who gives an outstanding and hilarious performance.
P.S - I Hate This Film! Well first off i know i'm not exactly part of the target audience for this film, but i have been known to enjoy the odd "Chick Flick" now and again.
I'd heard that the book was really good and having seen the cast list i decided it would be a nice film to watch with the love of my life on a sunday afternoon... The credits rolled and the film starts off with Holly (the normally excellent Hillary Swank) and Gerry (Lady eye candy - Gerard Butler) embroiled in a fight.. Awful, terrible and... more info
Not good if you've read the book first! I absolutely loved the book, so when I found out there was a film out I was really excited about seeing it. However, I was very disappointed after watching it, the book is so much better. For starters, while the book is set in Ireland, the film is set in New York - I don't think this added to the film in any way at all. I didn't feel that all of the cast were entirely believable, somehow they didn't seem to gel.
I do think that had I not read the book first, I would have enjoyed the film a lot more.... more info
