Extremely Dissappointed I purchased this camera in March 2008 and have used it on a number of occasions and am extremely dissappointed with the results. It is almost impossible to take steady shots, shake is very noticable even though the steady shot is activated. The microphone picks up creaks from the plastic casing and also when activating the zoom button, the microphone is also sensitive to wind noise even the silghtest breeze sounds like a gale blowing. Backward step Got this to replace a mini-DV Panasonic. Big mistake as the picture quality is vastly inferior. Auto-focus? It would be quicker to do it manually. Sat under the stairs in its case now, we use video mode on the digital camera. As another reviewer wrote, Sony should be truly ashamed of this.
A near-perfect camcorder I bought this camcorder a few days before I went on a two-week holiday to Boston and New York, so I was looking for one I could learn to use fast, and which wouldn't need a bag full of extras (tapes, disks, etc) for me to forget or leave on the plane. This, then, was perfect for my needs. Basically, if you know how to use a TV remote, you will be able to use this camera within 30 seconds of taking it out of the box. Great camcorder! I bought this camcorder a week ago to take for holiday. I already have a camera 10mp so i don't really need to take still pics from camcorder. I'm very happy with this camcorder (my first), its surprisingly small and light. Easy commands and 30G is plenty. I do recommend this camcorder to people who are looking for a basic camcorder with good quality and value for money. The only thing is you need to buy spare battery because the batt that comes with it only last for approx 100minutes.
